The article discusses the problem of the influence of art on the individual; various interpretations of the concept of "art therapy"; specifies the causes and possibilities of therapeutic effects. Based on the literature review, the author analyzes the change in attitude to emotions in the cultural and historical context. The importance of the influence of emotional phenomena on the mental and somatic sphere is noted. The article proves art-therapeutic technologies transform emotional phenomena and thus correct both organizational and mental processes.

This is the main difference between this method of treating mental disorders and other popular types of psychotherapy: psychoanalysis and behavioral therapy.
