Abstract
Relevance: In the digital age with constantly expanding information space, the development of awareness, critical thinking and the ability to remain committed to basic human values in an attempt to make a decision in morally ambiguous situations (including corruption) is becoming increasingly relevant. Purpose of the study: to assess the changes in psychological indicators of the dynamic system in high school students’ intellectual-personal potential and the orientation of their decisions (ethical vs. corruptive) in corruption risk situations before and after online training in corruption recognition. Research methods and sample: The study involved 10th graders from Moscow schools (N=20). In the experimental group, online training was conducted to develop knowledge about the corruption' signs and the actions necessary to recognize it in problematic situations. Changes in the development indicators were assessed: (1) ability to recognize corruption (author's case test), (2) representations of corruption (author's questionnaire), (3) understanding of emotions and ability to manage emotions (tasks of the Meyer-Salovey-Caruso test) before and after online training. Also using the author's moral dilemmas, preferred alternatives in corruption risk situations (ethical or corrupt decisions) were compared before and after the online training. Main results: In the experimental group, significant differences were found within the decision-making system in corruption risk situations and between high school students' preferred moral alternatives before and after online training. The formation of the ability to recognize corruption leads to significant changes in representations of corruption. Depending on the level of development of representations of corruption, the orientation of high school students' decisions (ethical vs. corruptive) in corruption risk situations also significantly differs. Conclusion: Online training is effective for the development of components of the decision-making system in corruption risk situations, as well as for changing the orientation of high school students' preferred alternatives towards ethical decisions when analyzing problematic situations.
